We took little Max on his first camping adventure this weekend to the quaint gold mining town of Coloma on the banks of the American River in the Sierra foothills. The Bakkers joined us for the weekend – Brooke actually found the campground and had the idea – Lilia was in heaven with two older girls to traipse around behind. Brooke and Lisa attended Andi’s baby shower in Sacramento while the dad’s had the girls for the day on Saturday, beautiful weather and plenty to explore amongst the ruins of the gold mining bonanza that took this area of California by storm 150 years ago (Coloma is the place where James Marshall discovered gold in California in 1848, a finding which began the California gold rush). Max took to camping like a champ, giving us some of his longest stints at night to date (phew…). Great to see the Bakkers again, I can’t believe it’s been almost a year already since we were in Moorea with them last November!
Love the mountain air experience!
What a beautiful spot. So fresh and healthy for the kids. Did you pan for gold? Good to see photos of you all enjoying yourselves. XX
