It’s been a very busy summer break for us, but it would be blasphemous for the kids to go back to school without our traditional week up at Gramps Greg’s cabin in Arnold. It’s always such a fun time up there relaxing on the lake, enjoying the alpine country and hitting a few MTB trails…
With the fishing bug firmly planted in Max’s psyche after his monster trout catch in Cascade a few weeks ago, all he wanted to do after we arrived was head up to Lake Alpine with the kayaks. It was a beautiful morning up there before the wind kicked up, the girls enjoyed a big paddle on the tandem boat while Max and I snagged seven or eight plate-sized rainbows from the deep water by the dam. A ton of fun!
It was great to have the Taylors join us for the bulk of our week in the mountains, always fun to see the kids enjoying Lakemont Pines from sunup to sundown. We celebrated Max’s birthday in the middle of our stay: Wild Man requested a morning MTB ride down Yabba Dabba Doo followed by lunch at the Lakemont Pines kiosk, the afternoon on the lake, afternoon gifts with milkshakes on the deck and finally lasagna and caesar salad. What a day!
The weather was downright glorious for our entire time up in the Sierras, so we took advantage of it with adventures to all our favorite spots: Lake Alpine, The Lube Room, Natural Bridges… As always, it was over too fast but the beginning of the school year is beckoning back in Sonoma County.
