Auburn at Cal

We try to take the kids to a Cal Bears game once a season – it doesn’t always happen – and with UC Berkeley hosting the Auburn Tigers last night for their season opener it was a matchup we couldn’t pass up. The Munselle girls joined us for the evening, with pregame beers and dinner at a packed Raleigh’s Pub followed by a stroll through Berkeley and more pregame libations at Moffatt Field next to the stadium.

Auburn lives and breathes football and were heavily favored to win. It was a very tight and hard fought game, the Bears held the lead for most of it after an opening drive turnover from the Tigers, but in the fourth quarter Auburn scored on a needle-threading pass and incredible catch in the end zone to take the lead by four points. They held on to win the game, but it was a great night with some magic weather to start the season. Good times!
