Disneyland is typically the last place I’d plan a trip during spring break, but with Granny Jenni here for a few weeks and it being only a couple of hours away from our digs in Palm Springs I figured it’d be a fun surprise for the kids and a memorable experience for all of us. We spent the first of our two days in Anaheim at Disneyland, heading in before 8AM to try to nab a spot on the new Star Wars Rise of the Resistance ride before the crowds hit. We still ended up waiting for almost an hour but it was well worth it, some incredible technology made us all feel like we were in a Star Wars flick with all the characters. I was a big fan of the other new Star Wars ride – Smugglers Run – as well, just incredible effects and amazingly lifelike characters. We managed to hit all the rides in Disneyland except for Space Mountain during the day, Space Mountain consistently had waits of more than an hour and we decided it wasn’t worth the effort… Lilia closed her eyes for almost the entire Indiana Jones ride, and Granny Jenni was not super pumped with me taking her on Big Thunder Mountain, noting that it’s the last rollercoaster she plans to ride during her life!
Although we all enjoyed Disneyland, adjacent California Adventure – where we spent our second day – was definitely everyone’s favorite park. We rode the Cars ride twice and the kids and I absolutely loved the Guardians of the Galaxy dropper ride. I had to almost force the kids into Guardians of the Galaxy – they were so nervous about it – but afterwards said it was one of the best things they’d ever experienced and thanked me profusely for taking them on it. The Incredicoaster was also a favorite of Max’s and mine, Lilia not so much… A fun adventure but 10 hours of rides each day really took it out of us, we were all shot by about 6PM each night. Good times!
A great age young and old to experience such a fabulous adventure.
The memories abound.
