California Academy of Sciences

Daddy day care today so we headed out early for a visit to the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. Man it’s cold today, was expected to be the coldest night in two years last night (I don’t know if it actually was, though…). The Academy was pretty awesome, the coral reefs weaving their way under the floor of the main level were unbelievable, all the sea life you’d expect to see while taking a dip in the South Pacific. Lilia couldn’t get enough. And the rainforest exhibit was quite spectacular too: a heated and extremely humid dome inside which all manner of tropical freshwater fish, birds and hundreds of gigantic butterflies were housed. Lilia probably has a sore neck from trying to follow the butterflies as they flew around, a few landed on her head which of course was followed by some hearty giggles. Bakker girls: you’re going to love it next month!

  1. Just showed the girls, they were hoping around the office with excitement. You are going to have to drag A.M. out of the butterfly place. She was supper excited about the penguins too.

  2. What an extraordinary place! Lilia’s little eyes must have been popping – what a great experience for everyone
