Lisa was off on a girls’ weekend so the kids and I headed up for one last ski of the 2021 season (and I really wanted to notch 30 days for the season on the slopes as well!). We had a great day at Alpine on Saturday and were also lucky to have a brilliant view of the women’s western regional FIS slalom from the side of the course. Such amazing skiers, and to watch them from a few feet away was pretty special for the kids to see. The next generation of olympians! It was super warm up there by the afternoon, Lilia skied after lunch with just a t-shirt on top, I was glad I took our mountain biking gloves to ski in otherwise our hands would have been roasting. I think we caught the last weekend of reasonable skiing at Alpine Meadows: Lakeview and Sherwood are now closed for the season, so Summit and Roundhouse are really all that’s left.
Sunday at Squaw was a lot of fun, we stayed up at High Camp for the morning enjoying the parks and the luge track that’d been built in the side of Shirley Bowl. I’ll take a storm and fresh powder over spring skiing any day, but this was a great way to cap of the 2021 season: magic weather, skiing in t-shirts and lots of grins from the kiddos!
Awesome day for you guys. Then there will be next season.
