The SCA Trail

Panoramic of the San Francisco Bay

SCA TrailCalifornia Poppies and the Golden GateOur previous attempts to walk along the SCA Trail in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area were thwarted by rain.  Twice!  But today we absolutely could not have asked for a more idyllic day.  Clear blue skies, not a hint of wind and warm temperatures made for a memorable hike.  Grandma and Grandpa decided they needed some exercise too – and will jump at any chance to spend some time with Lilia – so the five of us met at the Morning Sun Trail trailhead at 10:00AM and spent the next couple of hours taking in sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay from Angel Island to Point Bonita.  With all the wildflowers in bloom and such magic weather it’ll be hard to top today’s hike next time we make our way along SCA…

Fish cevicheFishFor lunch we ventured into Sausalito to a restaurant called Fish that’s tucked away behind Mollie Stone’s grocery store partway along Broadway.  If I didn’t know it was there you’d never find the place, it’s hidden amongst industrial buildings and shipyards on the Sausalito waterfront.  With the first warm weather of spring it was packed at the restaurant, not too many better places to be on a hot, still day than sitting by the water with a pint of Scrimshaw Pilsner.  I’d never eaten at Fish before – it was introduced to me by an ex-colleague of mine over coffee – but the food was brilliant.  We’ll definitely be going back…

  1. What a fabululous outing for the grands and family. Thank you for organizing.

  2. What a wonderful area you live in. Love Lilia’s facial expressions. How about that bunny suit – going on my wall. What are you actually feeding her? how old is she again?!!
