A nice break from the heat out on the coast for a big day of riding in Jackson Demonstration State Forest. With all the riding we’ve been doing during lockdown, I figured the kids’ legs would be able to handle some of the southern JDSF singletrack and make it back out to the beach. We hit some of my favorite trails in JDSF, they both absolutely loved the redwoods and ferns of Manly Gulch, Marsh Trail down by the creek was fun as well. It was a long slog out the Big River Haul Road, but they made it (with me singing 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall to keep our minds off tired legs). The put in 19.8 miles (31.8 kilometers) of singletrack and fire road, definitely a family record for us, almost three hours in the saddle for them. I was feeling it during the seven mile climb back to the truck while Lisa and the kids were enjoying the beach!
NICE?
