Fort Bragg and Albion

With nothing but sunny skies and spring-like weather for the past few weeks, we didn’t think it was worth making the trip to Tahoe for some skiing over the long weekend. So instead we headed west toward the coast to make the most of this amazing February weather we’ve been having.

We stopped off to visit Michaela at Whitesboro Farm in Albion, the kids loved the horses, 29 of them on the ranch in all. I think they could have stayed there all day feeding them treats with the ocean in the background.

We spent the weekend at our favorite California coast campground in MacKerricher State Park, amazing weather to explore all the beaches within riding distance of the campground. We cycled the four miles into Fort Bragg each evening for dinner, hitting up Piaci’s and also trying a Thai/Laotian restaurant we noticed tucked into an old lumber company showroom just off the main street. Was pretty fun riding home each night racing the sunset to make it back to camp before it was pitch black!

On our way out of town, Lisa had a hankering for fish and chips so we stopped off at the Noyo Fish Company down in the main harbor on the Noyo River. Fisherman’s Cove definitely has the crown for clam chowder and oysters, but I think Noyo Fish Company may be top of the leaderboard for fish and chips. So, so good!

  1. Looks like a WONDERFUL outing with the exception of a belly abrasion. Sometimes spills happen even at my AGE.

  2. Definitely on the flip side of snow skiing with bounding adventure!
