The Young McClain Wedding

I remember meeting Savannah when she was younger than Max is now, shortly after I moved to the US back at the end of 2000. No way we were going to miss her getting hitched, so after the kids wrapped up school for the year on Thursday we made the trek across California, Nevada and southeastern Oregon for the Young McCain wedding in Boise this last weekend. It was so fun to reconnect with all the Youngs – who were represented from LA, Montana, Idaho and California – and also to meet so many of the family members of Savannah’s new husband Devonte.

We stayed at a classic Colonial Revival brick ABNB in and idyllic location between downtown and Hyde Park. It was a perfect spot to have both areas of central Boise easily accessible on foot and made for a fun couple of days exploring the area before the wedding on Sunday. Hyde Park was a favorite of everyone’s: with its assortment of breweries, dining establishments, stores and bars there was something for everyone. Not hard to see why so many Californians have been moving to Boise in recent years: our bar tab at the Parilla Grill one night for five cocktails and a glass of wine came to $30.57. Crazy!

Savannah and Devonte requested everyone dress with a dash of purple for the big day, we all looked pretty dashing (if I do say so myself!) all dolled up for the big event. A handful of pics here on the steps of our ABNB before we were off to the wedding.

The wedding was held at a picturesque spot in the northwest corner of Boise, Savannah and Devonte ordered absolutely perfect weather for their big day. Lots of tears in the crowd as they tied the knot, but it didn’t take long for cheeks to dry and the dance floor to start pumping. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Lilia or Max dance their little butts off like they did last night, was very fun to watch everyone cutting a rug. Definitely need to give a special shout out to some of Devonte’s relatives, who taught the crowd a handful of line dances which were super fun to watch. Oh, and I should mention that Max’s chest is still raw from doing the worm so many times in the middle of the dance floor!

Congratulations Devonte and Savannah! Was great to be there to celebrate with you guys!

Our gatherings together for Savannah and Devonte’s wedding were absolutely glorious … picnics filled with laughter, love and the joy of meeting and being together to celebrate THEM!!! Then the wedding itself … so beautiful. And then, the reception … from beautiful, tender. heartfelt toasts to absolutely joyous dancing! I am so very thankful and happy to have gathered and celebrated with two wonderful families … the Youngs and the McClains … and with all the extended family and friends. Thanks be to God! Blessings abounding to Savannah and Devonte … all the days of their lives!
