Lisa took Lilia for her first camping trip this week as they ventured south to New Brighton State Beach with Carol, Greg, the Westobys and some of Lynn Westoby’s extended family. Lisa spent many a summer at the New Brighton State Beach campsite when she was a child, so it was fun for her to be able to take a trip there with all three generations together. It really is a beautiful campsite and such a great spot for young kids, right on the edge of the cliffs above the beach and a stone’s throw from downtown Capitola (we were campsite 19 on the adjacent map). I took Tuesday off work and spent Monday night down there with everyone – any excuse for a trip to Gayle’s Bakery in Capitola – and Lisa stayed down there until Thursday. It was fun for us to meet some of Lynn’s extended family, some of the young kids were a real hoot! Lilia was a little fussy on her first night in the campsite but got used to things on nights two and three, another hardy Valtenbergs camper in the making.
Thanks Sam, as usuall excellent remembrances, love John and Lynn
