It has become quite the trend – espeically where we live – for parents to refuse the vaccinations recommended for their children. It’s very frustrating for me as a new parents because, whether I like it or not, my child is going to be exposed to these children who are not vaccinated against a plethora of diseases and afflictions that modern medicine has almost completely eradicated. Interesting article below on this anti-vaccination trend… I was talking to a good mate of mine who is a doctor about this a few weeks back. He said when he gets a parent who doesn’t want to vaccinate their child he tells them that he thinks that sounds like a great idea, that he has never witnessed a case of measles or polio firsthand and that it would be an informative experience for him as a doctor! As you can imagine, he said the parents always change their mind…
Yep – i’ve known one of these loonies who refused to have her children vaccinated. It’s impossible to reasonably talk with them. In the meantime you guys have to live with the fear of Lilia being a victim of one of these morons. You just have to hope that she is in a situation where there is ‘ herd immunity’. Like the sound of your Doc. friend
I hope you don’t mind if I share this on Facebook. As a former Biology teacher, I am saddened by those students of mine who are not vaccinating their children. Thankfully, Brooke and Kevin are not among those.
